Cole is one that jumps up as a newcomer to our 2029 rankings and checks in at DB6 in our rankings update this week. The 5’11 185 pounder out of Kearney Catholic, is one that has intriguing ball vision especially coming up to assist as a run-stopper as you can tell that Cole is one that has growing instincts when it comes a pursuit angle perspective. Probably my favorite of his skillsets comes in pass coverage as he does a great job of closing in from away from the ball and getting the best possible flight angle with his ball tracking ability, as he showed off on recent tape. Surely one that you could make an argument for being in our top five in the DB group here soon.

Kearney Catholic’s Cole Burg Cole Burg 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB/ATH Kearney Catholic | 2029 State NE wasted no time establishing himself as one of the top underclassmen in Class C2. Cole had an impact on both offense and defense, recording 463 receiving yards, 196 rushing yards, six receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, 59 tackles, five TFLs, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. It’s hard to filter Cole into just one position because he is a flat-out gamer. On defense, he finds ways to be destructive, whether that’s by being a ball-hawk in coverage or stepping up to make plays against the run. He does an excellent job reading the eyes of the QB and has loose hips and quick closing speed to get a spot where he can defend the pass or make a play on it for an INT. Great instincts. On offense, Cole has proven to have sneaky speed that can catch defenses off guard, allowing him to spring free for the deep ball. His versatility also forces defenses to keep eyes on him at all times because he can run great routes from the outside, slot, and even out of the backfield. Dynamic player!
