Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Deemer stood out as a ninth-grader on a defense that helped Van Meter reach the Class 2A state championship game. The freshman recorded 28.0 tackles, 15 of which were solo stops. He posted 4.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. Deemer picked off a couple of passes and returned them both for touchdowns. When watching him in-person at the UNI-Dome in November, he could best be described as a high-motor player. Evidence of Deemer’s first prep season is limited. We do know that both of his sacks came in a playoff win against Mid-Prairie. Both of those plays can be found on his Hudl page. He plays physically for a freshman and flashed straight-line speed. Fast in pursuit, Deemer stays centered and balanced in keeping the target in front of him before breaking down. The Bulldogs are one of the most successful programs in the state for a reason, and Deemer’s development is one to monitor moving forward after he put down a sound foundation.
