The Yellow Jackets will look to get the ball in CJ’s hands all season long, and I’m sure with it being the first scrimmage, they kept some of those creative ways under wraps. But when you just look at how explosive he is off the line of scrimmage, he tilts a defense and can open some other things for teammates. CJ made a couple of nice catches with some run-after-catch ability, and I expect him to have a big season overall.

One of the best receivers in the state you don’t know about, because he plays at Bessemer City. As long as the Yellow Jackets can get him the ball, he’s going to be a problem on the outside. I would guess he’s going to face some double teams, which in turn should open up some things offensively for his teammates. He’s strong, fast, and has large hands to bring the ball in consistently.

I really liked CJ before the showcase, and if there was a player who really helped themselves here, it was him. CJ doesn’t get a lot of coverage at Bessemer City, so people got to see him up close really for the first time. The body control CJ exudes is really impressive. He runs his routes well, and he’s got excellent speed to create consistent separation against man coverage. Shortly after the showcase, CJ picked up an offer from Campbell, and I think he’s going to have more come his way from similar schools with a strong summer camp season.
