A 2026 running back that I have had a persistent high grade in this 2026 class that is way too under the radar for my liking right now is Charlie Yon Charlie Yon 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB/LB Thompson | 2026 State ND of Thompson. In our last ever rankings update, he checks in as our RB3 and I love how much he improved how quick he picks up speed from our last rankings update. It’s evident especially when Charlie changes direction within the open field which is where he is the most deadly getting upfield. He has also taken a step forward with his durability thru contact in his senior season and as well with his elusive change of direction. If I was a program within the NSIC, I would offer this young man ASAP before National Signing Day.

118 rushing yards, and now the 11A state leader in rushing yards and touchdowns

Charlie is now the leader in 11A in rushing yards and touchdowns as this was a 2026 target that I thought had a sound summer on the camp trail and has hopefully reeled college coaches back in as we hit midseason and the Thompson running back is having a superb one. The 5’10 190 pounder is one that I feel his best production comes from hard-earned yards and yards after contact, which is why I still can’t believe he doesn’t have his first offer yet as those two skillsets should lead in evaluation as far as the on-field evaluation and obviously Charlie’s measurables and testing numbers check the boxes too. Might I add that I feel Charlie has gotten more fluid with his change of direction as there’s more natural movement when he makes his first cut especially. Charlie is surely is a great fit as an NSIC target.

Charlie is a 2026 running back out of Thompson that grew a bunch this summer thru the summer camps I saw him in attendance at throughout the Dakotas as one that doesn’t have an offer yet, but should. Last Friday night against Mayport-CG, he logged 151 total yards, three rushing touchdowns, 10 tackles and 2 sacks on the defensive side of the ball all in just one half of work. Charlie ran with a massive head of steam with the tape I watched getting donwhill on his first RB rep for a touchdown. On the second touchdown, he showed off his great vision and a smoother cutting ability than we saw last seasona and added the durability to finish the deal in the end zone. I said it this summer and I’ll say it again, you also will not miss with this young man’s excellent character in your college locker room.

Charlie is a 2026 running back that surely has risen up my board in North Dakota since he posted his tape in March. He shows off some of the best vision instincts I have seen out of running backs in this class in the state. Another box that catches out for Charlie is his durability, as the 5’10 190 pounder from Thompson has gotten much more durable since I watched him a year ago while getting yards after contact. Placed 8th in the ND Track and Field Championships in the high jump and also throws the javelin in a top-tier. College coaches should be intrigued with Charlie this summer for sure at camps.
