Bates will debut in a future rankings update, and flashes as one of the more intriguing players athletically on the DL in the 2028 class. Bates is a stout, stubbier IDL projection, but he compensates for his length with his athleticism and activity. He is strong at the point with the suddenness to shed blocks and the pursuit skills to chase. He is athletic enough to mirror the football in space, and can close ground. A rep offensively as a TE showcases even more of his juice athletically, where he ran a route downfield and ate more yards after the catch. Bates holds D1 offers.
