Another unranked prospect featured in this article who has been consistently sharing weekly highlights since the beginning of the season. Currently listed at 6’0, 205 pounds with an impressive 4.0 GPA, he is a wrestler with an outstanding strength profile and a physical playing style that immediately caught my attention. He has reported a personal best of 530 pounds in the deadlift and is approaching a 500 pound squat, both exceptional numbers for a player of his size. His social media features plenty of weightlifting footage, and I appreciate the work he has clearly put into developing his strength throughout the offseason. He has also been sharing encouraging junior season football clips, giving us an opportunity to begin evaluating a player who was previously outside our database. His combination of academics, wrestling experience, weight room production and physicality makes him an intriguing prospect before even getting into his football tape.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to locate a complete Hudl profile or midseason highlight reel, so I relied on a roughly one minute highlight clip he posted to Twitter toward the end of September for this initial evaluation. That footage provides a useful introduction to his playing style, but I would strongly encourage him to put together a complete midseason or eight week highlight reel as soon as possible. He has been consistent about sharing individual clips, which is excellent, but consolidating his best reps into one accessible video would make it considerably easier for college coaches and evaluators to understand his abilities. There is clearly enough physical talent here to justify a more thorough evaluation, and I want to see a larger collection of plays before determining his exact collegiate projection. He has the versatility to contribute at fullback, defensive end with his hand both on and off the ground, and linebacker from several different alignments between the C gaps.
One thing became apparent almost immediately after watching his available footage: this is one of the most aggressive and physically violent new prospects I’ve come across over the past two weeks. He plays with what I would describe as an offensive lineman’s temperament, consistently looking to punish defenders and make his presence felt through contact. He doesn’t appear satisfied with simply completing a block or making routine contact. He wants to drive opponents backward, finish them into the ground and establish a physical advantage on every opportunity. That mentality is particularly valuable for a player who can operate as a traditional fullback, a position that requires a willingness to absorb and deliver significant contact on a consistent basis. His reported weightlifting numbers make plenty of sense when watching how aggressively he attacks defenders, and I appreciate that his strength appears to translate directly into his football responsibilities.
I particularly enjoy his work from fullback alignments within traditional I formation sets. That is a role we don’t see utilized nearly as frequently in today’s offensive landscape, but it remains extremely valuable for programs that want to establish a physical rushing attack. Playing fullback requires toughness, awareness and a willingness to sacrifice individual production to create opportunities for teammates. He embraces those responsibilities and looks genuinely comfortable working through traffic as a lead blocker. He is a nasty, punishing blocker who attacks defenders with purpose and consistently attempts to finish through the whistle. I could watch his blocking reps at fullback and tight end for an extended period because of how much physicality he brings to each assignment. I also appreciate that he has demonstrated the ability to carry the football from fullback sets, showing that he can contribute as more than simply an additional blocker in the backfield.
That same aggressive mentality translates to his defensive responsibilities, where he can align at linebacker or work closer to the line of scrimmage as a defensive end. He has the physical temperament to handle contact between the tackles and the strength to challenge blockers at the point of attack. His versatility between the C gaps is particularly interesting because it suggests he can contribute within several different defensive structures depending on the needs of his coaching staff. I want to see more complete defensive footage to evaluate his recognition skills, pursuit angles, coverage ability and consistency against different blocking schemes, but the early impression is that he brings a genuine tone setting presence to the defense. He is the type of player who wants opponents to feel every collision, and that mentality can be valuable when paired with discipline and sound tackling technique.
Overall, I believe this is a rankable prospect who deserves to be represented on our site as soon as possible. His combination of a 530 pound deadlift, nearly 500 pound squat, 4.0 GPA and wrestling background is impressive, but what really separates him is the physical mentality he brings to the football field. He is an aggressive lead blocker, a capable fullback, a versatile defensive contributor and a player who consistently looks to establish himself through contact. There is still work to be done in determining his best long term positional fit, and I would love to evaluate a complete midseason reel before assigning a more specific collegiate projection. However, there is no question that he has caught my attention. This is a true tone setting, two-way football player with an old school mentality, and I’m excited to get him ranked while continuing to follow his development.
