Carter Ward flashes potential as a solid quarterback who has a quick release, throws with great zip and velocity between the hashes, and has great rhythm and timing on the deep ball. Ward is highly productive, having come off freshman and sophomore years with a combined 1,780 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. He is making remarkable improvements as a junior, throwing for 901 yards through the season’s midpoint.

Ward is a 3-year starter for Danville and will be going into year 4, starting yet again. He’s had his ups and downs throughout the years, but has always come out better from those moments. He’s best when he’s on the move, rolling out of the pocket. He can throw on the run and then is a good enough athlete to take off and make something happen with his legs. He’ll square his shoulders and make an accurate throw. He really started to use his legs more last season and has a good understanding of when to take off. To this point in his career, he’s got 3284 passing yards on 57% completion, 47 TDs through the air, and another 250 yards and 12 TDs with his legs.
