Expert Analysis
Joshua Graham | Prep Redzone Scout
Phillips has been the definition of consistency and dominance for North Duplin this season. The senior running back has eclipsed 1,500 rushing yards and found the end zone 23 times, powering one of the most efficient ground attacks in the state. His patience behind the line, combined with his burst through gaps and physical finish, has made him a nightmare for opposing defenses. Week after week, Phillips has been the go-to playmaker — the tone-setter who keeps North Duplin’s offense rolling. As the regular season closes, his production and leadership will be the key to how far the Rebels can go in the postseason.

A shiftier scatback, Phillips scaled his production as he went from fewer than 75 carries to 200 touches as a junior. He reached nearly 2,000 yards and scored 31 times last season, reaching 100 yards in all 10 games and hitting 200 in his final three. A true home run hitter, Phillips had a run of at least 35 yards in all but one game.

After putting up nearly 2,000 yards as a junior, Phillips added some good weight and has looked great in spring combines. He’s really impressed me as a pass-catcher, something he doesn’t get many opportunities to do in his offense. His vision, speed, and newfound mass should translate to the next level and he’s a guy we’re keeping an eye on throughout the summer.

Carell was a HIGHLY productive player for a North Duplin team that attempted only 10 passes on the season! Wow. Carell racked up 1913 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns on the season, with an impressive 9.6 yards per carry average – every time he got the football, it was basically a first down. Impressive. As you figured out, North Duplin is a double-wing team, and Carell does a good job of sifting through traffic to find open spaces. Once Carell, gets into the open field, he has good speed and the ability to make 2nd and 3rd level defenders miss.
