Stat Line: 5 Tackles, 1 TFL

Cameron is one of our favorite LBs in the Class of 2029, but Friday night we watched him play DE for West. Love to see that he was willing to play wherever to get on the field on Friday nights. The sophomore is building a strong, muscular frame that more than was able to hold up on the edge. His first step and strong hands flashed over and over as he was a constant in the backfield when DCE would go to the air. While he didn’t get any sacks the rangy defender piled up the pressures and QB hits. Tipple is a destructive defender and proving to be a very versatile one as well.

It will be tough for Cameron to win a starting job this fall. Wausau West returns several incoming seniors who were key contributors on Friday nights. However, the door should be there for him to be in a backup role and maybe earn time on special teams. There is also a chance where he beats out some of that older competition.

It won’t be easy, but the 6’1″ 200 lbs LB has the talent to leapfrog guys if he gets the chance. On tape the 2029 LB will wallop ball carriers. He is violent and physical, but flashes the range and ball skills to also play in coverage over the middle of the field. These flashes of three down ability make him valuable and his ceiling rather high. That range also comes in handy when he is called to blitz. The well rounded LB is going to make plays when his time comes. I will be anxiously waiting for that time.

The Wausau West freshman LB made the trip down and made a day for himself. The 5’11” 185 lbs LB ran a 5.22 40, 4.66 shuttle, and a 7.5 L-Drill. Being a freshman it is obvious that the freshman is just starting to scratch the surface. Cameron is showing that he can move around is space well, he just needs to continue to get experience and build on how quickly he reacts to route breaks so he can stay tighter to his man throughout the route. The ’29 actually has some tape available too, and watching through it you see him stand out with how quickly he can move through traffic, how fluid he is in space, and the fact that he will run through his tackles. Wausau West has pumped out some talented athletes. Cameron could be in that next wave.
