His current ranking on our site should give both him and college coaches a pretty clear indication of how highly I regard his potential. Already ranked among the top 200 prospects in Pennsylvania and the top 25 wide receivers in his class, he has consistently been one of the players sitting just outside my definitive Division I tier. Previously, I felt he was approximately 10 to 20 spots away from earning that designation, but his continued physical development and growing recruiting interest have me reconsidering that evaluation. He is now listed at 6’4, 225 pounds, having added an inch in height and 10 pounds since I last checked in on him. He also possesses a wingspan approaching 80 inches, giving him an impressive physical profile for a player who can contribute at wide receiver, occasionally work as a tight end, play outside linebacker and even handle punting responsibilities. With those updated measurements, I believe he has a legitimate argument for moving inside Pennsylvania’s top 150 prospects.
This has always been a player who flirted with a Division I grade, and I believe he has now done enough to earn that projection. His combination of height, length, developing mass and positional versatility gives him several potential paths to contributing at the collegiate level. At 6’4, 225 pounds, he has the size to create difficult matchups as a receiving target, while his ability to work from tight end alignments gives offensive coordinators additional flexibility. I also appreciate that he has experience at outside linebacker and can contribute on special teams as a punter. That doesn’t necessarily mean every position will translate to the next level, but it demonstrates how many different ways his high school coaching staff can utilize his physical tools. His frame has become considerably more intriguing, and I want to see how those additional 10 pounds have affected his movement ability, physicality and overall effectiveness this season.
His recruiting activity is another major reason I’m feeling increasingly confident about his projection. He has received game day invitations from Fordham, Buffalo, Drake, Cornell and the University of New Hampshire, an encouraging collection of programs that includes established FCS opportunities and interest from Buffalo at the Group of Five level. Those invitations are not scholarship offers, but they demonstrate that college programs are paying attention and want opportunities to evaluate him more closely. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these schools eventually decided to extend an offer, particularly if his current season film supports the physical development he has demonstrated. He is squarely in the Division I recruiting conversation, and I believe his combination of measurements, versatility and continued growth gives him a strong chance of turning that interest into something more substantial.
My only real disappointment at this stage is the lack of a complete highlight reel from his current season. He has been fairly active sharing recruiting updates on Twitter, but there hasn’t been much actual game footage posted directly to his account. His Hudl is a different story, with individual game cutups appearing consistently over the past three weeks. That is encouraging, and there is certainly film available for coaches who take the time to look through his profile. However, he still hasn’t uploaded a first three games compilation or a complete midseason highlight reel, which is what I would prefer to use for a thorough reevaluation. I’m not going to hold that against him, especially considering how much positive recruiting activity surrounds his name, but I do want to see a consolidated collection of his best reps before making another significant adjustment to his ranking.
The biggest question for me is how much his actual football ability has progressed since last season. His previous film was strong enough for me to rank him nearly inside the top 200 in Pennsylvania, and that evaluation was made before he added another inch of height and 10 pounds to his frame. If his route running, ability to separate, contested catch production and overall physicality have developed alongside his measurements, there is a strong possibility that his ceiling is higher than I initially projected. I’m also interested in seeing whether his additional size has made him more effective in tight end alignments or as an outside linebacker. Those are the details that will help determine whether he belongs inside the top 150 and how confidently I can place him within our Division I tier.
At this point, I feel very good about the direction of his development and the likelihood that our original evaluation will prove accurate. His ranking certainly isn’t in danger of falling based on what I’ve seen from his physical progression and recruiting activity. If anything, I expect him to continue climbing once I have the current season film necessary to support that adjustment. He has already earned my Division I projection, and the attention he is receiving from programs like Buffalo, Fordham, Cornell, Drake and New Hampshire only strengthens that belief. I’ll be checking back in over the next two or three weeks, hopefully with a complete midseason highlight reel available, to determine just how much he has improved since last fall and whether he has earned a place among Pennsylvania’s top 150 prospects.

is one of the more versatile prospects on film, contributing in multiple phases of the game. Offensively, he uses his size and athleticism to create matchup problems at both wide receiver and tight end. He shows strong hands and the ability to secure catches in traffic. Murphy’s frame and physicality also make him effective after the catch. Defensively, at outside linebacker, he plays downhill and shows the ability to pursue effectively in space. His length allows him to disrupt passing lanes and challenge opponents physically. Murphy’s versatility extends to special teams, where he also contributes as a punter. His combination of size, athletic ability, and multi-position value makes him an intriguing long-term prospect.
