Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Pina is hands down one of the top receivers in the state in this ’28 class and one of the top players in the central valley and should be closing in on his first offer soon. He has the ideal size and strength for the position, is extremely physical after the catch with the ball in his hands and has elite downfield speed with outstanding ball skills when making contested catches. He shows he can get off press coverage and create seperation downfield while a surgical route runner that bullies smaller defenders. Pina has put together multiple nearly 200 yard games this season and did it again with just under that on Friday night plus two scores, and continue son his sophomore season tear this fall.

Pina is one of the top ’28 pass catchers across the state of California and is a explosive and dynamic player with the ideal frame and size for the next level. He is a physical route runner with outstanding body control and hands in traffic and shows he can create seperation downfield and is a physical runner after the catch. He is also a long strider that chunks yardage and can get off man coverage and is overall a very polished player, especially for only a sophomore. He is another prospect that had a big week 7 in the valley going for 100+ yards receiving and 2 touchdowns against Mt. Whitney and has Golden West sitting at a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Pina is one of the top freshman play-makers across the entire state of California and has elite downfield speed and natural ball skills on the outside. Pina is a true vertical threat that can get over the top of safeties and is a burner in the open field with the ball in his hands. He shows he can run a variety of different routes and has strong hands when going up to get the ball in the air and wins on 50/50 balls. He’s already a very well polished receiver with a strong build and should see the offers continue to roll in over the next three years of his prep career. He currently holds offers from Sacramento state and Georgia State.

Impressive freshman season for the receiver out of Golden West finishing with 808 yards and seven touchdowns on 44 receptions while being selected first team all-league. He’s calculated as a route runner showing a good understanding of how to create positional leverage to play the ball in the air. Like his ability to mix up speeds based on his route to create separation. Plus judgement skills and adjustment ability to track the deep ball into his hands. He’s strong at the catch point and doesn’t need a lot of space to bring it in. He competes for every ball thrown to him and can fight through contact to make a play. A tough tackle for secondary defenders after the catch using his strength and physical running style to break contact and extend gains. Quality young prospect that is one to watch and see his recruitment rise as he develops.
