had a huge game for North Schuylkill in a 52-22 win over Bangor. Mengel is a smooth operator in the pocket. He has a good arm and throws an accurate football. He threw for 259 yards during the game Friday night as he lit up the Bangor defense. Mengel is having a strong senior year and has helped his team to a 4-3 record this year. He deserves a game ball for his performance.

Recently wrote in a separate piece about how off I was on Mengel’s rank based on tape alone. I second that notion after watching him work in camp this past Friday night. Mengel didn’t pop off the turf like some other passers, yet I paid attention enough to confirm some of the things I saw on tape. Mengel is going to see a rise among 2026 QBs, which is important considering how special this 2026 QB class is looking. Solid testing numbers all-around, a legitimate six-foot prospect, verified measurables and testing numbers go a long way. A few coaches mentioned his name to me as well. A lock to move up our boards moving forward.

Arguably the most desirable prospect on this list because of build/stature. First rep has Mengel hitting his man in stride after uncorking a 40+ air-yard toss in the pocket. Immediately get a feel for his upside. He replicates this rep a couple more times throughout his tape. Can serve as a threat with his legs, bigger build, expect Mengel to run through or past you. Mengel’s tape is far and away the best on this list thus far. I’d argue Mengel deserves to be inside the Top 30 after a second look at his tape, not a lot left on the table, he checks off boxes that upperclassmen can’t check off. I’ll be pushing his name a bit further, he likely belongs next to some of the better names in the state.
