A speedy pass-catcher that can serve as a Z or a slot receiver at the next level, Cade Olberding Cade Olberding 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB/ATH Iowa Falls-Alden | 2027 IA ‘s ability to get low at the line of scrimmage, drive off the ground and use those same quick movements on route releases make him a dangerous option through the air. Whether it’s a go-route where he beats the defender deep, he catches a pass in the intermediate part of the field and makes a defender or two miss for a big gain, or he does the same with a swing pass, Olberding is a big play waiting to happen.

His lateral quickness and ability to put his foot in the ground and fluidly move in the open field are calling cards and make him a threat in the return game, too.

Despite entering his junior season as a QB, Cade Olberding Cade Olberding 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB/ATH Iowa Falls-Alden | 2027 IA took a shift in his role, accepting a move to WR and OLB to better utilize his athleticism, and it worked very well over this last season. Olberding finished with 657 receiving yards on 42 receptions and 9 TDs last season. There is no denying Olbdering’s athletic potential, with some really impressive testing numbers, including a 34.2″ vertical jump, a 405 lb max squat, a 255 lb max bench, and a 4.68 40 yard time. That athleticism translated much better at the WR position, becoming the favorite target for his successor at QB, Karsen Kalous, with his sharp route-running and ability to reel down some difficult passes through contact making him a reliable presence for Kalous, and helping elevate the Cadets’ offense from the last few seasons. The combination of Olberding and Kalous will look to elevate the Cadets back to winning ways as they both enter their senior seasons.

Olberding stood out in all three phases of the game as an Iowa Falls-Alden junior in 2025. He caught 42 balls for 657 yards and nine touchdowns, and added 124 yards on the ground. On defense, Olberding recorded 28.5 tackles with 23 of them being solo stops. He took is lone interception back for a TD and recovered a fumble. Olberding averaged 18.8 yards on 13 kick returns and punted 27 times with a 34.7-yard average. We can witness the all-around athleticism that allows for contributions in so many of the game’s areas when watching his 11th-grade highlight video. He’s a big-play waiting to happen when lining up at receiver, running crisp routes no matter where he starts out in the formation. Olberding can make defenders miss in space or over the top. He jumps well and can win balls at their high point. The strengths on offense also work on the other side of the ball, where fluid movement and burst aid him in coverage or when supporting the run. They’re valuable on special teams, too.

Very interesting prospect who contributed in nearly every way possible for the Cadets. Sophomore Cade Olberding Cade Olberding 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB/ATH Iowa Falls-Alden | 2027 IA proved to be an all-around offensive weapon last season after racking up 661 passing yards, 489 rushing yards, 177 receiving yards, four passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown, and averaged 33 yards per punt. At this point, I’m not exactly sure where Cade will play at the next level, as he is currently listed as a QB, but I’m sure coaches will be enticed by his overall athleticism. Olberding is an exciting runner who displays great change of direction and suddenness when carrying the ball, which helps him cut/juke his way through defenses with ease. I was also impressed with Cade’s toughness and refusal to get brought down on initial contact, often requiring multiple tackle attempts by defenders before going down. He sees the field very well and seems to let the game come to him, especially in the pocket, where he has good instincts for when to pass the ball or tuck it and run it himself. As a receiver, he flashed smooth route running with excellent burst after the catch, allowing him to break free for big chunk plays.
