About Brock

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My style emphasizes physicality and hard work. I look to establish a presence on the field early with good technique and passionate play, as well as power. During play I keep a foot on the gas and stay aggressive. I am also uplifting to teammates, respectful of coaches, and kind to officials. I pride myself on good sportsmanship towards opponents, and a good next play mentality.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am mentally tough, able to work hard and I maintain positive attitude. I joke with teammates and have fun on breaks, but get right back to it on the next rep. I can get along well with others and tend to put an emphasis on fun during downtime. During work there is nothing else in mind other than to finish tasks or get better. No matter what lies ahead, I'm always ready to get my hands dirty.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of NHS, I serve as the Marcellus High School Junior Class Vice President, I work for the school news team/media club as a sports broadcaster, and I am a part time photographer for the school. Outside of school, I announce for various sporting events in Marcellus, and I am a member of a powerlifting team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

After years of working hard at both of my sports, I have developed a lead by example presence in organizations/teams I am a part of. If I can't be the best in the room at something, I make sure to work the hardest until I am. I volunteer for the community and for the school constantly, and I have developed good standing in where I am today.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The most significant challenge from an athletic standpoint is the fact that I come from a small school. Marcellus competes in Division 1 of the MHSAA 8-man Football league. We have a small enrollment, and frankly don't get as much attention or draw from anyone anywhere else. This is a challenge to overcome for both recruiting, and life, as it is tough to get people to care about Marcellus.

What type of college are you looking for?

The best fit program for me would be somewhere that feels close to home, even if it isn't. A college with a good business program, and one that cares about it's students. Additionally, somewhere I can get a degree that will truly help me succeed in the next step(s) of my life, no matter where they take me.

It’s not every day that I get to evaluate a player from 8-man ball!

Brock is a bully in 8-man. His tape consists of pancake after pancake, constantly outmuscling the opposing DT. He does an excellent job of engaging with a man, locking out, and driving. Most defenders are simply too weak for Brock.

From a recruiting standpoint, Brock has a larger hill to climb than most. He needs to prove this offseason and next offseason that he not only has the power but the fundamentals to go along with it. As long as the 6’3″ height is accurate, he’ll have a chance to be a college prospect next year.
