Few quarterbacks were as dialed in as Shank was on Friday. He was almost methodical with how they moved the ball up and down the field. He’s been doing it all year and practically nobody seems to pay attention until he torches them. With 241 yards and 5 TDs on Friday night, they blew the doors off Benton Central 49-12.

With a strong arm and good mobility to boot, Shank leads a power-packed Northwestern High School offense that is putting big points on the board under first-year head coach Caleb Small, who was the offensive coordinator at Ben Davis last year. Shank has a good release and is a dual-threat, able to make plays with his legs and displaying good touch on the deep ball.

Sometimes I come across a player that I am mindblown that I didn’t find earlier. Somehow, I went 3 years without noticing Shank, who just went over 4000 career passing yards on Friday and went nuclear. On Friday, he put up 412 yards and 6TDs as they cruised to an easy win. Shank is a quick decision-maker who is accurate and doesn’t make mistakes. I quickly became a big fan.
