As an undersized but strong defensive back, I rely on my tenacity and power to hold my own against bigger receivers. I have a knack for sniffing out the football in the backfield, always positioning myself where the play is headed. As a student with a 3.03 GPA at a competitive school like Cranbrook, I’ve developed resilience and discipline, balancing rigorous academics with the demands of being a standout athlete. These experiences have taught me to collaborate effectively, stay composed, and lead by example in high-stakes situations.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I started high school at Cranbrook, I was overwhelmed by the intense academic rigor, unlike anything I’d faced before, and my grades suffered significantly in my first year. I developed stronger study habits, sought help from teachers, and embraced a disciplined mindset, which led to a complete 180-degree transformation in my academic performance by my second year.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m seeking a college that matches my drive for academic excellence with a strong emphasis on athletic performance, targeting Ivy League, Patriot League, Big Ten, and Southern Ivy schools known for their stellar reputations. I want an institution where I can thrive in a rigorous academic environment while continuing to lead and excel on the football field, balancing both pursuits at a high level.

I really liked what I saw out of the defensive back from Cranbrook. Watkins was fluid in the hips and explosive enough to stick with any receiver thrown his way. His grange of direction and burst of speed allowed him to close any separation there may be. He has great technique and knows how to play the leverage game and make life difficult for his opponents.
