I really liked what I saw from Matthews. He has a thick lower body and a violent punch. Brian lined up at both the Tackle and Guard positions. At 6’3 280 he also measured in with a 80.5″ wingspan and 11″ hands. I could see him as a swing tackle or a versatile guard at the college level. He does a great job of getting quick depth in his kick step to cut off the speed rush. He does a good job countering when the pass rushers would try to go from speed to power. His violent hands would frequently knock defenders off their spot. I would expect Matthews to have a strong offseason. I could definitely see him getting D2 or D1 FCS level attention with a good camp season.
