Beck isn’t the biggest player on the field, but he’s always one of the most productive. He’s a 2-way player who seemingly never comes off the field and was their workhorse back on offense last year. Beck has back-to-back 1000+ yard seasons in the backfield. 1460 with 20 TDs with 7.6 YPC as a junior. He then turned around and added 102 tackles, 5 TFLs, 1 sack, and a pass deflected defensively. I appreciate guys like him who do it all and don’t expect a big parade when the job is done.

There weren’t a ton of running backs there this weekend so the ones who did show up got a bunch of reps and opportunities. One of those guys who took full advantage was Beck. Beck is a guy I haven’t seen much of, but he’s talented. He can win in short areas and make guys miss. He’s thick enough to take a beating in the trenches and take on a big workload. It was a solid performance from the small school back.

We’ve spotlighted several Zebras this season and for good reason. Although Rochester fell just short of capturing a sectional championship, they finished 7-3 in Ron Shaffer’s third year as head coach. Beck can run through contact as well as anybody and finish forward on contact. He finished 25th overall in the state in rushing with 1,460 yards on the ground.
