Smith the Arizona commit and arguably the top prospect and player in the central section this season, has been one of the top two-way guys across the state this fall and made a major impact on both sides of the ball on Friday night against a tough Clovis squad in a battle of two of the top teams. He showed his natural instincts, return abilities and elite football IQ on the backend while also mangling his normal running back duties as well. He had a total of five touchdowns in all three phases of the game, while rushing for nearly 200 yards and doing this all against a top tier Clovis defensive front. Smith is a special talent and tremendous get for the Wildcats in the Big 12 and he will be one of the top covered signees across the region as we near the first national signing day in a little over a month.

Smith has long been one of the top running backs across the state of California, and has elite track speed and ball skills out of the backfield and is a no-brainer high level P4 caliber player in college. De-committing from SDSU earlier this Spring and opening up his recruitment, he has locked in official visits with UNLV, Boise State, Cal and Arizona and his recruitment is one to watch moving forward through this Summer.

Smith is an explosive back that possesses a complete skillset. At 6’0” 190 lbs. he shows he can run hard between the tackles, turn the corner to the outside, or catch the ball out of the backfield. Exceptional speed and quickness that make him a constant threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Excellent burst and short area acceleration, he presses the LOS quickly to apply pressure to the defense and force them to be gap sound early. Exhibits great vision, consistently reading the flow of the defense and finding running lanes allowing him to capitalize on small creases and work to space. Once in space, he’s tough to catch and bring down and uses his top-end speed to outrun defenders. Impressive lateral quickness and change of direction to make sharp cuts and elude defenders in open space. Took 308 total touches for 2,234 scrimmage yards and 28 touchdowns. Committed to San Diego State in late January over 11 other offers but will continue to see more offers and be highly recruited.
12 Offers: San Diego State, Fresno State, San Jose State, Sacramento State, Utah, UNLV, Boise State, Arizona, Washington State, Nevada, Montana State, Colorado State

Smith has shown that he is one of the top running back recruits in the 2026 class across the state of California, and has recently picked up offers from Arizona and Cal Poly and will be a no brainer 10+ offer guy by this time next year. The hometown Bulldogs also entered the mix early having offered him earlier in the Fall. Smith is in line for a huge off-season and will be one of the most sought after recruits the valley has in the 2026 cycle. He had another stellar rushing performance in Central’s Northern California bowl game against St. Ignatius where he rushed for 162 yards and 5 scores, 3 coming from the offensive side and 2 on defense and special teams.
