The success for Independence came in the ground game on Friday night, but Brady Kurt Brady Kurt 6'2" | 185 lbs | LB Independence | 2025 State IA still delivered a top notch performance on the air, finishing with 11 catches for 165 yards and a touchdown in the win. Kurt was lined up out wide and also playing in a split backfield, but Kurt excelled in both areas. Kurt shined particularly in catching 50-50 balls, in which he had several impressive grabs where he adjusted on the man coverage to make a spectacular catch. Kurt ended up surpassing the 1000 yard mark with his performance, solidifying what has been an amazing senior campaign that enhances his resume as a two-way threat.

Another star LB that also serves a dual-role as a top WR, Brady Kurt Brady Kurt 6'2" | 185 lbs | LB Independence | 2025 State IA was the other star in the passing game against Central Dewitt this week. Kurt finished the night with 136 receiving yards on 8 catches and 2 touchdowns. One thing that really stood out to me is his hand-placement, and how well he utilizes his arms to gain leverage in shedding off blockers, and that translated very well in the passing game when he effortlessly broke off of a DB’s block and sped vertically down the field to haul in an 81 yard touchdown pass. Kurt currently ranks 2nd in the state in receiving yards (631) and is one of the best two-way players in the state.
