A dynamic force coming off the Edge for the Baylor School Buffalo Commit, Illunga Bisselele has a very similar playstyle and body type to current UB LB Red Murdock, who has been one of the better defenders in the MAC this season. Illunga-Bisselele shows some change of direction skills, burst and closing speed in space, and the bend to execute a quality speed rush.

Going into the 2024 season, Ilunga-Bisselele was already viewed as a top ten player at his position but with his performance so far, I expect this Canadian native to move up within the linebackers but also overall. The Red Raiders junior linebacker has stepped up his game in a big way by displaying increased agility and speed as well as his ability to drop and cover in space. This is a versatile backer that can do a variety of things on the playing field and I still feel like Ilunga-Bisselele is just scratching the surface of what he can be once he reaches the college level. The Red Raiders defender looks like a future inside backer but because of his athleticism and twitchy movements, I could see this guy taking snaps or developing off the edge as well.
Committed to Buffalo at the moment, Ilunga-Bisselele is a prime candidate to see bigger schools get involved before we reach signing day in December. He is that talented and with his play so far this senior season, I could see ACC, Big 10, Big 12 or SEC schools throw their hats in the mix for this East Tennessee talent that brings a lot of potential to the defensive side of the ball. Ilunga-Bisselele is also playing at a level right now where he could be in consideration for defensive player of the year in the D2-Class AAA ranks by season’s end, so keep an eye on this Baylor linebacker moving forward.

Commitment: Buffalo University
Bradley Ilunga-Bisselele, currently playing high school football in Tennessee, is an outstanding linebacker from Canada. He received 9 NCAA Division One offers, including one from SEC heavyweight Ole Miss, before committing to the University of Buffalo. As a linebacker, Ilunga-Bisselele is robust and embraces the physicality of the game. His aggressive play and consistent effort from start to finish are remarkable. He is an athlete who becomes a force once he gains momentum downhill and can also contribute to the pass rush when needed. His potential for the next level is promising, as he has the makings of an impact player in college football.

A well built thumper that embraces the physical aspect of football, Ilunga-Bisselele brings the look and game play needed to compete on the college stage and he still has room to grow with his athletic profile. What places this East TN backer into our Top Ten is how aggressive and physical he plays and the effort he competes with from start to finish. It’s hard to slow this guy down once he gets going downhill. Ilunga-Bisselele is a good athlete too. He has definite room for development in this area where he can become more lethal against the run while enhancing his ability to play in space. The Red Raiders senior can also provide a pass rush when called upon, so there is a lot to like about Ilunga-Bisselele and his upside on the next level. His stock has been steadily growing over the past few months and I think it will continue to do so moving forward.

Strengths – The moment this native Canadian steps onto the field, he immediately looks the part as llunga-Bisselele is well built physically, sporting the body to step onto a college playing field today and compete. His well built body and frame plays as he can run through blockers, chasing down the ball or have the strength to take on blocks and shed them. Looking through his junior film, Ilunga-Bisselele shows excellent upside as a run stuffer on the collegiate level that can also provide edge work as well. The Red Raiders rising senior is a good athlete that can bend and get after the quarterback or drop into space and play against the pass. He may not have the preferred size to play off the edge but he makes up for it with his motor, athleticism and desire to find the ball. Ilunga-Bisselele shows good burst on film and initial speed that plays up well on the collegiate gridiron. His versatility on defense is a strength of his but I feel his biggest upside resides at inside linebacker where he stuff the run and rush the middle of the field blowing up that run play or pulling down the quarterback.
Improvement – Thinking long and hard about what Ilunga-Bisselele could be working on this off-season to develop further and it came to doing everything. Coming from Canada down here to high school football in Tennessee, Ilunga-Bisselele handled himself just fine but to take his game further and sustain it, the 6 ‘1 linebacker simply needs to learn the game much more while continuing to stay in the weight room and playing field. All about experience with this guy and I feel with this current off-season, Ilunga-Bisselele will take the steps needed to become a potential D1 prospect.
Overview – This is a good prospect to get on board with as I see a guy here that is still learning the game and developing into his body but his junior film shows tremendous upside as a middle backer with a versatile skill set. He will need to continue adding more speed and explosion to his game but the mold and natural abilities are there. I think you will see his skills shine brighter this Fall as Ilunga-BIsselele should take on a bigger role with his Red Raiders defense and establish himself as one of the top middle backers from our #TN2025 recruiting class.
