Is Halpin a tight end moonlighting as a tailback or a tailback moonlighting as a tight end? The simple answer is “Yes.” The 5-foot-10, 215-pound bulldozer provides so much for the Copperheads’ offense that he’s not going to get pigeon-holed into either designation any time soon.
During his junior season, Halpin made sure everyone knew it, too. While he was getting more time in the backfield than previous seasons, his power was undeniable. He’s can take a handoff and hit the hole, or he can fake it and sneak through the line to catch an outlet pass in the flat or up the seam.
He can also line up offset behind the tackle or guard and provide some additional pass-blocking help. And, yes, at other times he may very be next to the tackle with his hand on the ground. In any capacity, he’s a load.
