Coaches and other scouts need to start paying attention to this East Tennessee O-lineman as Heckmann has the physical size and nasty demeanor to develop into a formidable starter on the next level and his recruitment is just now starting to take off. Heckmann is a physical beast on the line who loves making contact with his opponent and punishing them every time he lays hands on them. The Rebels senior lineman also has deceptive lower base mobility, meaning he could remain at tackle in the college game with continued work. Heckmann has begun to pick up recruiting interest over the past few weeks and I expect that to continue into the summer months as more coaches lay eyes on this 6’6 physical beast.

Heckmann has been one of the hottest in-state O-line recruits over the past few weeks and I think he is just getting started with adding offers as several Power Five schools are interested but have yet to offer. Marshall gave Heckmann his 1st D1 offer then Memphis followed up recently and here soon, the Rebels senior O-lineman could be on the verge of adding many more due to his size, physicality and position versatility. This is a hard nosed, consistent ball player that could earn 20 plus offers before it’s all said and done.

Scouting Report: If collegiate coaches are looking for a mauler who embraces the physical aspect of football, Heckmann could be your guy. This 6’6 powerful young man loves making contact with the opposition and putting players on their backs. Heckmann is a violent competitor that uses his powerful hands to lock onto defenders and drive them off the ball as far as he can take them. Beating people up isn’t the only strong factor about Heckmann as he is a solid athlete as well that could play either tackle position or slide inside and compete at offensive guard. What allows Heckmann to be a versatile guy on the line is yes his athleticism but it’s mainly his technique and competitive nature. This East Tennessee O-lineman plays extremely hard and physical but it’s controlled as he remains strong with his technique and finishes the job through the whistle. Heckmann plays a clean brand of football that should attract many O-line coaches across the country as someone that could come in next Fall and immediately compete for playing time or at least make his way onto the depth chart. One area for Heckmann that he must continue working on is his lower body agility along with his lateral quickness. At times, the Rebels senior lineman can play a little heavy footed while also staying high for too long throughout his blocking. If Heckmann can continue working on his bend and foot speed, his stock goes higher with the possibility of remaining at tackle and even playing on the left side.College Projection: Power Five, D1, FCS
