Expert Analysis

I’ve long held the belief that Bergan is one of the top prospects in the state, and his junior season validated that belief. He ran for over 900 yards last season, while averaging a stunning 11.2 YPC. In his film, Bergan is a bulldozer. His film is 5 minutes of broken tackles and breakaway touchdowns. He’s built enough to break tackles repeatedly, and explosive enough to separate from defenders once he breaks through the LOS. His contact balance is also fantastic, and Bergan also has shocking agility for someone with a true 235 lb frame. When he hits the LOS, he’ll find a small gap and manage to exploit it for massive gains. There are very few backs who are better at running between the tackles than this kid. Bergan is built out of marble and boasts a 4.2 GPA. It’s no wonder that he’s one of the top athletes in Minnesota.

One of the more intriguing 2027s in Minnesota, 6’2, 235 lber. Benjamin Bergan has had a busy offseason. Not only did the junior RB/LB transfer from Anoka to Totino-Grace, he was busy getting his already sculpted frame up to a punishing and frankly frightening 235 pounds. Bergan possesses maybe the best frame, especially in the upper body development department, in the entire state. He also possesses some strong athletic data in his resume, and in 2025 he’s made a full-time switch to RB and DE, as he’s seemed to outgrow the linebacker position, and while donning the navy and gold of the Eagles, Bergan’s started to generate some serious steam on the recruiting trail. The likes of UPenn, Dartmouth, Jamestown, and Augustana have sent recruiting graphics, and NDSU, North Dakota, and Northern Illinois have all sent gameday invites, a good foundation of suitors to build off of.
On tape, Bergan looks and runs like a refrigerator got loose on its dolly, consistently running through and breaking tackle attempts at his upper and lower body, as well as carrying dogpiles for extra yardage. It consistently takes 2-3 defenders to bring Bergan down a carry, and his strength and power are able to wear down a defensive unit through four quarters, getting better as the game goes on. The 235 lber. also displays tons of juice as a pass rusher, with quickness, power, and heavy hands, and he doubles as a punishing lead blocker when opening holes for his teammates. Still some question marks in his recruitment, particularly what position he best projects to, but there’s some enormous positives as well. PRZMN will keeping a close eye, that’s forsure!

caught the eyes of many of the coaches and scouts that attended the event on Sunday with his strength and athleticism throughout the session. After posting a 9’4″ broad jump during the athletic testing, Bergan showed off his skills during the 1-on-1 drills in containing the outside run and pass-rush, showing a good amount of burst off the snap, playing low, and making powerful hits on the RBs. Previously a top performer during our Combine Series showcase in December, Bergan was once again among the best performers among this group on Sunday as he’s continued to make a big name for himself heading into his junior year.

Yet another excellent example of what the PrepRedzoneMN Showcases can do for a prospect, Anoka’s 6’2, 210 lb. RB/LB

blew the roof off of the Plymouth Soccer Dome this past April at the PRzMN Combine Series stop in MN. Measuring 6’1.5″ and 205 pounds, Bergan passed the eye test with flying colors, showing a frame with significant early muscle development and a cut-up upper body more representative of an upperclassman than a current freshman. Bergan popped off two 5.12 40s, a 4.63 short-shuttle, a 9’6″ broad, and 7.13 L-drill. Additionally, he was a top performer during both drills and 1-on-1 competition, showing off explosive power and vertical ability, smooth COD skills, and strength & physicality all over the place. To sweeten the pot, Bergan is a multi-sport athlete who is also a PF/C on the basketball team and CF/P on the baseball diamond, and in the middle of last month, he posted an eye-popping 40″ vertical at the TrainingHaus football combine.
Bergan was a non-varsity contributor in 2023 for the Tornadoes and holy cow, did he look like a man amongst boys in the freshman film. As a RB, Bergan is a powerful cutter who can create velocity when he sticks in his cleat in the ground and changes direction in space, sees the field well, and has some dominant and physically imposing contact balance that can allow him to stay upright while running through and over multiple tackle attempts in a play. Not a lot of film overall, and couldn’t find any defensive reps, but Bergan is a very well-developed athlete at his age who knows how to use his physical prowess to dominate the competition. Big fall coming for the 2027 standout and our #3 overall ranked prospect in the 2027 class.
