About Baum
Expert Analysis

I thought when Hogge announced he was visiting Liberty a couple days ago they would offer and come behold they did. Playing for Lafayette High School Baum Hogge had offers before his junior season began, watching him at our showcase last year I can tell you he passes the eye test. A smooth sideline to sideline linebacker, expect his offer sheet to reach double digits.

Lafayette’s Baum Hogge picked up his second Division 1 offer over the weekend with Columbia University being the school. This young man is the real deal and we had the privilege of watching his size and speed up close at our Winter showcase. He is a sideline to sideline linebacker whose name should be a high priority for more Ivy League schools to come calling.

One of the most impressive players from our January Player Showcase, Baum will be making his ranking debut in this year’s ranking update. He has an offer from Old Dominion, and more will come for this Edge defender. A sophomore campaign that consisted of 108 TKLs, 17 TFLs, 11 Sacks, 2 INTs, 3 FFs, and 4 Defensive TDs, Baum is an impact player on the field. He proved to be arguably the best athlete at our showcase with impressive scores of a 4.31 Shuttle and 8’7″ Broad. He has a very quick first step that allows him to create leverage on offensive tackles in pass rush, winning with speed, quickness, and strength. Shows discipline in run defense to hold his gap. Relentless pursuit through the whistle. He can also drop in Zone coverage and play with solid coverage skills. He is one to watch as his recruitment picks up and will be featured as a highly ranked defender in the upcoming rankings.

– Physically developed signal caller coming out of Berkeley Middle School in Williamsburg, Virginia. Already stands 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds with a great build
– Was the catalyst for an amazing turn around that saw the Bulldogs go from one win in the fall 2021 season to an unblemished 8-0 regular season record this past year
– Love the fundamentals he already has sharpened. Keeps two hands on the ball as he drops back and eyes are locked downfield, scanning the defense. Has a great pocket awareness and instinctively knows when to hang in there and when to bail out
