Aveion McAtee Aveion McAtee 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Shawnee | 2023 State KY finished out the 2022 season recording the 3rd most total tackles in the entire state with 177 in 10 games which accumulates to roughly 18 tackles a game. His main attribute that contributed to his success on the football field is his explosive strength to throw down any incoming ballcarrier in order to make the stop. Along with that, Aveion’s reflexes off the snap are instant, and his ability to get off his feet and accelerate quickly to the ball is extremely impressive. Aveion has also shown the ability to accurately read where the ball is going to go and he is able to get himself over and make the stop every time, which helped record all his tackles this year. Although he may be a senior and has not held any collegiate offers at this time, I believe that he will eventually find himself playing inside LB at the next level.

He finished the regular season as the statewide leader in tackles with 177 (118 solo, 59 assists). He lines up at inside linebacker and does a great job of reading his keys and coming downhill quickly against the run. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very physical tackler, running his feet through contact and making his presence felt on every tackle. When the play is away from him, McAtee does a good job of taking the right angles to the ball and is a very reliable open field tackler. Aveion doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be on the radars of college coaches as he has the skill set to be a productive inside linebacker at the next level.

Next up on my list is the state’s current leading tackler, senior linebacker Aveion McAtee Aveion McAtee 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Shawnee | 2023 State KY from Shawnee. McAtee is having an incredible final season, accounting for 140 total tackles (98 solo, 42 assists). He plays the middle linebacker position and does a great job of leading the Shawnee defense. McAtee does a great job of reading his keys and coming downhill quickly to put himself in a position to make a play. He takes great angles to the ball carrier and is a very reliable open field tackler. Once he gets to the ball, McAtee is a very physical tackler with the ability to explode straight through the ball carrier without breaking stride. Aveion surprisingly doesn’t hold any offers but should definitely be on college radars as he has the talent to play at the next level.
