Engroff checks in as our top defensive back prospect in the 2026 class and is a very high IQ safety that flys around and makes plays both in the back end and up near the line of scrimmage. He is a sure tackler whern dropping down into the box and knifes into the backfield and gets in the mix in the run game regularly. On the back end, he has outstanding range in zone coverage and plays with fluid hips/hands in transition with recovery speed if beat and good ball skills/highpoint abilities when making plays on the ball. Overall a very dynamic athlete that can play multiple positions and a smart player, Engroff should fit in nicely at USC and add to their room.
Engroff has been one of the top prospects across Idaho in the 2026 class for some time now, and hauled in some early Ivy League offers last off-season and is a high academic kid with plenty of playing experience under his belt. He plays with tremendous instincts, ball skills and is a excellent open field tackler that comes downhill quickly and can bang in the box while fluid in space. Engroff projects as a safety in college and the Timberline product recently shut down his commitment and took a PWO roster spot offer at USC last week.
God is so gracious! I’m extremely blessed to announce my verbal commitment to USC as a PWO! A huge thank you goes out to the USC Football Staff for the opportunity. I also want to thank the countless individuals that helped me get to the point I am at today! #FightOn ✌️ pic.twitter.com/YebmZuVGtl
Engroff checks into our rankings as the top defensive back in the 2026 class and should draw plenty more interest/offers. He has the ideal size, closing speed and balance for the position and is outstanding both in coverage and when dropping down into the box in run support. He shows he can cover the entire back end, has open field tackling abilities and takes proper angles in space while able to make plays behind the line and apply pressure off the edge. He is smooth in coverage with strong hip fluidity and natural ball skills while breaking quickly to ball carriers. Engroff is another prospect that should have a busy summer and productive Fall and remains one of the top uncommitted prospects across Idaho and holds offers from UPenn, Cornell, Utah State and Cornell.
Engroff checks into our rankings as the number one defensive back across Idaho and is a long and rangy safety that covers a ton of ground in space, triggers quickly to ball carriers and has outstanding ball skills and range on the back end of the defense. He shows good eye discipline in zone coverage and can cover both bigger receivers or slot receivers and is fluid in transition with change of direction abilities and recovery speed. Against the run, he takes good angles when coming downhill and brings a good pop at the point of attack while not afraid to come up and run the alley or set the edge.
