Arthur McCormack IV
About Arthur
Expert Analysis
Roger Brown | Prep Redzone Scout
Artie McCormack’s production through his first two seasons of high school football tells you a lot about his skills as a running back. After rushing for 1,063 yards as a freshman, he ran for 1,270 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. He’s only the third player in North Haven (Conn.) history to gain at least 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. His 21 rushing TDs are the third most for a season in school history and his 1,270 yards rushing are the fifth most during a season in the program’s history. McCormack has deceptive speed and makes good cuts in heavy traffic that allow him to find open space and gain extra yardage. He will also get tough yards inside, and will run through arm tackles. McCormack showed good patience at the line of scrimmage, but he’s also a decidive runner once he spots an opening and will get upfield quickly. He does not dance in the hole. His athleticm and running style make him an effective ruturner on punts and kickoffs as well. His highlights showed limited plays as a pass catcher, but he appears to have soft hands. Added skills as a receiver would make him an even more attractive player to college coaches.
