Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Break out season for the DE out of Gila Ridge totaling 76 tackles (53 solo), 18 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. Strong compact frame at 5’11” 210 lbs. packed with power and functional strength. Does a great job diagnosing the play as it develops to react and make key stops at or behind the LOS. Uses his hands well to keep blockers away from his body and free himself up to make a tackle. Quick lateral movement to redirect to the ball and chase. High motor player that stays involved in the play and holds the speed to pursue from the backside or downfield. Like his awareness to create turnover opportunities with well-timed strips of the ball carrier. Of 2027 prospects, he ranked second in the state in sacks and lands at #127 overall.

Rodriguez plays like a big man who understands angles, and that’s a compliment — quick feet for his size, calm eyes, and a really strong ability to finish once he gets his shot. What I like most is he doesn’t overcommit; he’s a run-stopper and a pass rusher, and he’s patient enough to not fly past the point of attack just to chase a highlight. You’ll see him slide down the line, stay square, and meet the ballcarrier even if it ends up on the opposite side of where he started — that’s disciplined football, and it’s a big reason he’s productive on a defense that’s built to create negative plays. When he rushes, he’s decisive and physical, and when he gets close he doesn’t miss — there’s real closing ability. The next step is simple: add a couple more answers, particularly with more active hands, so he can win even faster against tackles who sit on his first move, because the motor and the base are already there.
