Although the Raiders didn’t have the season they hoped for last fall, they definitely have a lot to look forward to in 2025 with a solid core of returning players. One player to keep an eye on is senior Akhil Mehta Akhil Mehta 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB/WR Brownell Talbot | 2026 State NE , who will play a key role at receiver and cornerback after hauling in 27 receptions, 405 yards, four receiving touchdowns, 27 tackles, and a TFL. Akhil stood out right away with his strong hands and ability to make tough, contested catches. He does a great job tracking the ball and is very aggressive when going up to snag it. Mehta demonstrated his ability to create separation against zone and man coverage by identifying weaknesses and exploiting them by attacking leverage or finding the soft spots in the zone. Good burst and acceleration after the catch make him a threat to hit the home run ball. Defensively, I like Akhil’s awareness as he is quick to close on the ball and has the range to attack from anywhere on the field.
