could be in position to be one of the top gunslingers in 1A this fall with the weapons and coaching staff he has behind him at Regina.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 170-pounds according to his bio on X, Gaffey has the frame to be a successful QB that can disect the defense, while also serving as not only the backup to Tracy last fall, but as the top passer with a ton of experience on JV last season. For the Regals JV squad, Gaffey completed 114-of-169 passes (67.5%) for 1,253 yards, 17 touchdowns and just one pick.
A prospect that showed the ability to make quick decisions in the RPO game, extend plays, and recognize where his team has an advantage and exploit it, Gaffey has the makings of a QB that could be super successful the next two years for Regina.

I watched Gaffey competing with Avalanche at last year’s Back 2 Ballin 7v7 tournament. I wrote about him being a guy on which to keep an eye. He then spent the 2025 prep campaign working behind one of the state’s most prolific producers and in a program adept at developing the position. It was good to see some of the progress Gaffey had made in watching him at Back 2 Ballin High 2026 during the middle of April in Cedar Falls. Gaffey had taken a step forward in multiple areas. He’d become bigger and stronger, which translated into added arm strength. Gaffey pushed the ball down the field more easily and did a better job at diagnosing defenses. He’s putting himself in a good position to take over QB1 for the Regals following graduation losses. If that happens, he possesses the talent to break out in a big way this fall.

Gaffey shares quarterbacking duties on Avalanche 15U with a Regina teammate. He’s athletic enough to stand out playing cornerback as well, but Gaffey has the raw tools to work out behind center. His height helps him see downfield and his arm allows him to get it there. Gaffey runs well and looks technically sound at the position. There’s time for him to realize his potential.
