Aj Jones is the complete package at the wide receiver position. Transferring from Bolingbrook to Washington High School for his junior season, he is poised to make an immediate impact on the Panther offense in 2024. Jones’ big-play ability is complemented by his versatility, allowing him to excel both as an outside receiver and from the slot. With natural hands, he effortlessly snatches passes out of the air and becomes a significant threat with the ball in his hands. There’s no doubt that his recruiting will gain significant momentum as he enters his junior year.

Adrian is a big play waiting to happen out at WR. He has the speed and ball skills to stretch the field down the sideline or up the seam. Jones is a natural at finding the ball in the air and making adjustments to get where he can get two hands on the ball and secure it. The ’26 WR is also electric after the catch. He can make DBs miss, has a great burst out of jukes, and sees the field overall really well after the catch. Adrian will also get involved in the gritty part of the game and throw blocks downfield.

Back home and showing out, AJ solidified his status as a true WR1 with his performance Saturday evening. I was very impressed with his route-running ability. His agility on the field demonstrated not only his natural talent but also his dedication to becoming a great receiver. Jones showed his ability to create separation from defenders and make some tough contested catches. With AJ back home, he is undoubtedly a key asset to his team and adds a formidable force to the receiving corps in Washington.

The impressive sophomore out of Washington is an elite playmaker with the ball in his hands. Last season, Jones dominated for Bolingbrook and is as good a separator as one will find. Jones is a fantastic route runner, using his speed and athleticism to create space at the top of his routes. He transitions smoothly in and out of breaks and is lethal with the ball in his hands. Whether its a vertical shot, quick game, or a screen, Jones understands spacing and how to break tackles in the open field. Another gem in a loaded Illinois Class of 2026 receiver group, Jones could find himself as the top dog after his junior season.

Kicking things off is 6’1, 180 lb. Washington Community rising sophomore Adrian “AJ” Jones, who ranks as our #21 overall prospect and #5 rated WR in the PRzIL 2026 rankings. Jones has been tearing it up with Midwest Boom on the offseason 7v7 circuit and trains with QB/WR Coach Rob Garcia at 4VertAcademy in Central Illinois. A varsity starter in 2022 who mixed reps between varsity and non-varsity last fall, Jones used his size to his advantage as both a WR and DB, showing off a smooth gait, long strides that aid his good speed for his age, and physicality as a ball carrier who has no problems lowering his pads and bringing the boom to would-be tacklers. He made some clutch receptions and carries on varsity with the Panthers out of the slot or as the Z and was trusted by his coaches to pick up pressure-filled third-down conversions. I also like his vision when the rock was in-hand, tentative route running skills for a young buck, and defensively, Jones also laid some big hits as a CB. I’d be surprised if is anything but a full-time varsity contributor this upcoming fall.
