Not a physically gifted QB, and one that certainly is working with a small sample size, but Abbas Mangal Abbas Mangal 5'10" | 155 lbs | QB Norwalk | 2027 IA has flashed potential that’s placed him as the current favorite to take over under Center for the Warriors with the departure of star signal-caller James Hatlevig this offseason. Mangal went 3 of 5 for 59 yards and 2 TDs on varsity last season. Mangal is an intriguing athlete, flashing fluid mechanics, solid delivery, and an impressively strong arm for his size while being elusive enough to extend the play and scramble outside the pocket to create plays with his legs. That ability could help open up their run game a lot more, which could help create a more explosive and balanced dynamic for the Warriors’ offense in 2026.

In line to take over after two years with James Hatlevig at the helm, Abbas Mangal Abbas Mangal 5'10" | 155 lbs | QB Norwalk | 2027 IA will get his shot to lead Norwalk on the gridiron this fall.
With some throws on tape from last year, Mangal shows quick feet from the QB position, willing to roll out and able to avoid the pressure when the pocket collapses. Able to pull the ball down and take off if he needs to, Mangal does his best to stay behind the line of scrimmage first, keeping his eyes down the field and looking for a target while avoiding the rush. He should provide an opportunity for the Warriors to utilize the QB run game next fall, too.
With a prototypical release that looks smooth and efficient, Mangal can throw some darts down field and in the intermediate game, as well.

Mangal served as the varsity backup quarterback behind a multi-year starter capable of competing on the next level. Next fall could be Mangal’s chance to breakout as a senior starter, however. He appears to have a skill set built for success when we watch his junior highlight video. Mangal completed three of his five varsity passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Pocket presence is a strength as is the ability to throw accurately while on the move. He’s athletic and nibble, enabling Mangal to pick up yards on the ground or keep plays alive by avoiding the rush. His throwing form is technically sound and velocity is achieved without a great deal of effort. College camps could be beneficial to offseason development in preparation for game reps.
