Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A big, instinctive defensive back who can play all over the secondary, Fountain has enough size and speed to lock down receivers on the perimeter while bringing a physical element against the run. The big 6-foot-3 175-pounder plays closes quickly on the ball-carrier and can deliver a big hit when making a tackle. He shows impressive ball skills down the field along with natural athleticism. He already looks like a D1-player and is currently committed to South Carolina. The Warner Robins native at Northside (GA) delivered 32 tackles as a junior last season with four INTs in coverage. He’ll see a significant boost towards the top-30 in the next Prep Redzone rankings.

The 2027 class is loaded with impressive defensive backs, and Fountain is among the best. A long, randy cornerback with impressive footwork and technique, Fountain uses his natural athleticism and length to his advantage, covering bigger receivers down the field with ease. He plays hard, he’s fundamentally sound, and breaks on the ball quickly. He reads the quarterback, shows strong instincts in coverage, and continues to add big offers. This week he earned a major offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes and more are likely to head his way. He’ll be an easy addition to the next Prep Redzone rankings and should see a significant bump as well.
