About Darrell
Expert Analysis
Eric Bergman | Prep Redzone Scout
Jackson-Mitchell had a good camp season standing out in front of college coaches. He was able to pick up a few offers this summer. He is another guy that has the ability to get moved around in the secondary playing safety or corner. He has good speed and is able to trigger to break up passes. Whether he is at corner or safety he is very good in run support. He is not afraid to stick the ball carrier and finish the tackle. He is entering this season with a lot of momentum and college coaches are taking notice.

The first thing that jumps off the tape from the 5’9″ 160 lbs DB is the poise he plays with. He is decisive and trusts what he reads. Darrell has proven that he can be counted on in man coverage or to play a deep half of the field. While in man coverage, Darrell has the play speed to be able to run deep and the quick feet to break with the receiver. Darrell is also explosive at the catch point. He can go up and attack the ball at the high point and has the hand eye coordination to get his hands on the ball. Zone coverage is where you really see that decisive play. He reads the QB and breaks on the ball without hesitation. His speed gives him the necessary range and the timing to attack the ball to force breakups is strong.
