, a quarterback at Logan County High School. In addition to excellent arm strength, Holman stands out with his calculated passing game, proving he can quickly get the ball out as well as complete the deep pass. I also like Holman’s ability to be patient in crucial situations, waiting for the opportune moment to make the long pass.

Despite his exceptional production numbers and impressive developmental trajectory, we need to remind ourselves that Holman is still only a sophomore with plenty of room to develop; however, that realization proves more difficult to retain when we witness an outstanding performance like the one turned in most recently. Completing 28 of 44 pass attempts for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns, he sealed the victory with his final, 18-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter. Averaging 209.9 passing yards per game (#6 in AAAA/18th statewide), he now has completed 169 of 290 attempts for 1,889 yards and 20 touchdowns, elevating his offensive unit to #2 in team passing (241 yards per game/ 13th statewide) and 9th in team scoring (34.1 points per game). Exceptionally accurate in the short/intermediate passing game, Holman’s ability to move his launch point while keeping his eyes downfield makes him a particularly challenging opponent when pressured, forcing defenses to consider field zones, boundaries and even coverage matchups before attempting to pressure or flush him from the pocket. Holman and his district runner-up Cougars will travel to South Warren for their final outing of the regular season and will then host John Hardin in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

The talented Holman seems to be acclimating exceptionally well his to duties as the full-time starter, as he exploded for 322 yards passing and 4 touchdowns on 32 of 47 passing in his Cougars’ big 34-0 win over Calloway County. In fact, fans and followers needed only to watch the first half to confirm the sophomore’s progress after he connected on scoring tosses of 17, 2, 19 and 4 yards, respectively–all before halftime. A tall, physically developed athlete with polished throwing mechanics and above-average mobility, he has connected on 107 of 187 passes for 1,230 yards and 14 touchdowns for his 5-1 squad, and his average of 205 passing yards per game currently places him 8th in Class AAAA (23rd statewide). With the ability to sense pressure and evade initial rushers while maintaining a sound throwing posture, he already has produced two 300-yard passing games in his first season, and performances like these will ensure that interest from next-level programs will certainly follow.
