Breakout Players From 7A Region 3

It may not have been the toughest region in 7A this past year, but there’s still plenty of talent on display in a region full of power programs from Cobb County. The Walton Raiders are always playoff bound, the Marietta Blue Devils were 7A champions in 2020, but it was the North Cobb Warriors who won the region and looked like one of the top teams in the state. Here are a few breakout stars from the region in 2020... &nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34008" first="Malachi" last="Singleton"] - QB - North Cobb</strong> The 6-foot-2 215-pounder from Kennesaw led the Warriors to an incredible season where they went 10-2 with big wins over Buford, Walton, Hillgrove, and Marietta. Singleton looks like a young Justin Fields with his strong arm and ability to make plays with his legs. Singleton passed for 2,710 yards last year with 32 TDs.  On the ground, Singleton carried the ball 191 times for 1,091 yards and 17 more TDs. He was named Region 3 Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, which led to offers from Georgia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, among others. He’s an elite talent who should make a big impact through the air and on the ground at the next level. He has two more years at North Cobb, and he’ll have the Warriors in a position to make a state championship run over the next few years. &nbsp; <strong>Emmanuel Olaitan - DE - Marietta</strong> The Blue Devils of Marietta always have plenty of talent, and their new breakthrough star is their productive DE, Emmanuel Olaitan. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder did a great job of stepping in the shoes of BJ Ojulari who is now making plays at LSU. Olaitan became one of Marietta’s best pass rushers and was a reliable defender on the edge all year. He has good length and athleticism which has made him one of the top defensive linemen in the region. The outstanding junior made 67 total tackles, 17.5 TFLs, and lead the team with six sacks. &nbsp; <strong>Braylen Stokes - RB - Walton</strong> The breakout running back in the region had to be the sophomore from Walton. Stokes wasn’t expected to come in and have a big season, but that’s exactly what happened. As a sophomore, Stokes proved he’s one of the top young backs in the state as he was named 1st-team All-Region against some very talented 7A defenses. The 5-foot-10 170-pounder missed three games during the season but still managed to rush for 612 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 170 yards and one score. He was reliable all season when healthy and will look to have another big season as a junior this fall. If he does, the offers will start to roll in down the road. &nbsp; <strong>Chase McCravy - QB - Hillgrove</strong> The freshman standout is starting to become a household name in the metro-Atlanta area after a solid first season at Hillgrove. The athletic QB earned the starting role and played extremely well for someone his age in the 7A class. The 6-foot-0 175-pounder’s best game this season came against a really talented Westlake defense where he was 14/19 for 289 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-21 win. He’s got an accurate arm and shows great footwork for someone his age. He’s technically sound, he has a quick release, and his arm will get stronger as he gets older and his arm continues to develop.
