Benedict Umeh DL | 2024

Canada ranks second nationally on the world stage when it comes to top football talent and the amount of players heading off to play division one in the NCAA. In today's article I want to outline some names you should get familiar as you'll be watching them on college football Saturdays.

Arguably the most talented player Canada has to offer right now is St. Bruno Quebec's Max LeBlanc. LeBlanc grew up in Quebec as a stand-out wide receiver. As he continued to grow, it was inevitable the talented pass catcher would be sought after at the next level. With his development progressing at a high rate, the 6'5 225-pounder moved to TE and transferred down to Baylor School in Tennessee. LeBlanc is now ranked by the 247 rankings as the No.14 Tight End and a top 300 player nationally in America. Big things are sure to come from the star-studded athlete when he gets to Columbus next year. In the meantime watch for LeBlanc to sneak up on a 1000-yard receiving season in his senior year.

Another name Canadian college football fans should familiarize themselves with is [player_tooltip player_id='851418' first='Benedict' last='Umeh']. Umeh a native of Toronto, Ontario now plays at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut. The highly sought-after four-star defensive tackle comes in at 6'5, 260-pounds and has had schools in pursuit of his commitment from the likes of Stanford, Penn State, Wisconsin, Duke, and Auburn. The Torontonian is ranked by the 247 composite rankings as the No.12 defensive lineman nationally and a top 100 prospect. Umeh is set to have a breakout senior year and currently favours Stanford in his recruitment but Penn State seems to be surging. The powerful interior defensive lineman comes with a ton of size but what makes him so unique his elite strength. With that being said he has a ton of college coaches drooling for his services as it really tough to find a quality 3 tech like him at the next level.

Staying on the topic of the defensive trenches, Sean Sevillano Jr. who is currently committed to Notre Dame is certainly a name to get familiar with. The Winnipeg, Manitoba product is currently enrolled at Clearwater Academy International in Florida. The class of 2024 three-star DT is expected to be a very under-the-radar recruit as his recruitment did not really pop off until late last season. Coming in around 6'2, 315-pounds Sevillano Jr. is going to play the 1 tech at the next level and provides a low reliable leverage technique that bodes well against opposing teams' run games. Sevillano Jr. is still going to be recruited down the stretch of his senior year by Auburn, Cincinnati, and Maryland. But I suspect the Winnipeg native ultimately stays committed to the Fighting Irish.

Canada ranks second nationally on the world stage when it comes to top football talent and the amount of players heading off to play division one in the NCAA. In today's article I want to outline some names you should get familiar as you'll be watching them on college football Saturdays.
