2021 Las Cruces (NM) quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="26160" first="Marcos" last="Lopez"] impatiently waited many months for his first offer. Comparatively speaking, his second offer took just a matter of weeks. Just over two months after being offered by Hiram College in Ohio, Lopez was offered Tuesday by a school over 1,000 miles closer to his home in southern New Mexico’s largest city. Division II Eastern New Mexico extended the offer, giving Lopez the opportunity to play for an in-state school. “I was excited and surprised to be offered because I hadn’t been talking with them very much,” Lopez told Prep Redzone New Mexico. “I like that it’s an in state offer and close to home.” ENMU is believed to have offered Lopez as a quarterback. Arguably the top player in the city of Las Cruces, Lopez is also one of the most dynamic playmakers in the entire state along with being one of the most experienced. He is going into his third season as the Bulldawgs’ starting quarterback, one of the most visible seats in New Mexico high school football. Last season Lopez threw for 1,874 yards and accounted for 23 total touchdowns to spearhead the Bulldawgs to an undefeated District 6A-3 record (6-0) and a spot in the Class 6A playoff quarterfinals. <strong>ARTESIA WR GETS PWO OFFER FROM NM STATE</strong>: 2021 Artesia wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="26164" first="Braxton" last="McDonald"] holds two offers from Eastern New Mexico and Wayland Baptist University in Texas. Tuesday, he added a third as hometown New Mexico State extended a preferred walk-on offer.
