About Martez

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I describe myself as a playmaker, whether it is offense or defense. I'm a versatile player with strong skills at power and vision. With an average 11 yards per carry, I can keep the chains moving. I can run inside, outside and catch in the backfield

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a humble, coachable mentality built on hard work and constant improvement. As a running back, I combine explosive playmaking with strategic vision, and I stay focused, disciplined, and team-first in everything I do.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m not currently involved in any clubs or organizations, but I stay focused on my academics and training. My current responsibilities are to maintain academics, stay disciplined, and continue to work to improve both on and off the field.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership skills in my senior year of high school football. I focus on setting a good example through my work ethic, discipline, humility and staying coachable. I’ve also learned how to support my teammates, stay accountable, and contribute to a positive team culture.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I’ve faced challenges, but they’ve helped shape who I am as a player. I’ve had to overcome tough moments, such as injuries, balancing school and training. Instead of letting those things slow me down, I used them as motivation to work harder, stay disciplined, and become more mentally tough. Those challenges taught me resilience and made me a better team player.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has strong academics, a competitive football program, and a culture built on accountability and development. I want to be part of a program where I can grow as a player and as a person, learn from great coaches, and contribute to a team that values hard work, discipline, and family.

My final running back to watch in the class of 2026 in St. Louis County is Martez Stephenson Martez Stephenson Martez Stephenson 5'9" | 160 lbs | RB Lutheran North | 2026 State MO . Stephenson is coming off a strong junior year in which he ran the ball 123 times for 1,363 yards and 17 touchdowns. Martez is a shifty ball carrier who has shown the ability to make cuts on the dime to make defenders miss. He has also shown the contact balance to break tackles without losing stride along with the speed to break away for a big gain. Stephenson also played a key role as a receiving threat this past season, catching 13 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns. Martez currently holds an offer from Northwest Missouri State and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his senior year.

The Pop Hughes Player of the Year is averaging 13.1 yards per carry. That’s game system numbers for an RB! Add that to 1117 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. Tez is an electrifying talent that can do so much on the football field that causes defensive coordinators headaches prior, during, and after the game. He is deceivingly strong and his quickness is insane. When you think you got him, that’s when he gets you. Stephenson has gamebreaking potential and we’ll see if the colder weather slows him down because he can catch the rock too.

Martez Stephenson Martez Stephenson Martez Stephenson 5'9" | 160 lbs | RB Lutheran North | 2026 State MO may be one of the most dynamic playmakers in the 2026 class. Expect coaches recruiting St. Louis to come running into Lutheran North the second they are able to contact 2026 prospects. Martez displays a rare combination of balance, vision, quick feet, and acceleration weaving through traffic in crowded run boxes. Good power and toughness shows lowering his shoulder and flattening defenders at the second level. Productivity running the jet sweep and comfortability running routes out of the backfield highlight Martez’s potential to develop into an elite third down back prospect before his high school career is finished.
