Which Spartans could have massive seasons in 2023?

Let's take a look...

Joshua Pgouda - ATH - 2024

An instinctive, hard-hitting linebacker coming off an impressive junior season last year, Pgouda has easy D1 size and strength at 6-foot-1 205-pounds who will bring toughness and natural athleticism to the Spartan linebacking core next fall. He reads plays well, he's not afraid of contact, and can get into the backfield in a hurry. He has the ability to play somewhere at the next level, and he'll show that in 2023. He's a guy who can help run the ball to on offense, but his ability to strike, shed blocks, and make key tackles is why. Pgouda has a chance to have a massive senior season this year. He's still flying under the radar, but it may not be for long.

Gabe Bobbitt - TE/WR - 2024

A pass-catching tight end/wide receiver with plenty of size and ball skills at 6-foot-4 225-pounds Bobbitt has a chance to be one of the breakout pass-catchers in the region next fall. He's an easy mismatch against smaller defensive backs in coverage and knows how to get open down the field. As a junior last fall, Bobbitt caught 14 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. That's just not enough for someone with his size, talent, and natural ability to catch the football. Look for more passes to come his way in 2023 as a senior, giving the Spartans a major weapon not only in the passing game, but as a blocker in the run game as well. He's without a doubt a prospect to know about in the fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='283868' first='Kade' last='Wigginton'] - QB - 2026

A breakout quarterback to know about not only in West Georgia, but across the country, Wigginton is bound for a true breakout season in 2023. He has a solid build at 6-foot-0 and 190-pounds, and should continue to add more weight and mass over the next several years. He has a naturally gifted arm and shows good ball placement down the field. He's a natural in the pocket, can elude oncoming defenders, and does a good job of throwing the ball on the run. He's consistently accurate, can push the ball down the field, and has D1-caliber arm talent already. There are plenty of 2026 QBs across the state who have a chance to break out this fall, and Wigginton is certainly one of them.

Cj Carrington - RB - 2024

A quick, shifty back who knows how to break tackles, Carrington is a back who is looking to have a giant senior season after transferring from Douglas County. At 5-foot-10 190-pounds, He shows quick feet, great burst, and knows how to run hard between the trenches. He has a natural running style, can stay balanced after initial contact, and can take off for a big gain if given room to run. He's a big-play back, and if he can stay healthy throughout the 2023 season, Carrington has a chance to be one of the leading rushers in the area this year. He's still under the radar, but he has a chance to make a real name for himself as a senior.
