Day 2 at the Prep Redzone WI Showcase: 2023-2024 Standouts

WISCONSIN DELLS-- We move over to Day 2 at the Prep Redzone Wisconsin Showcase. We will start with the young guys, the guys that might not have their driver’s license yet but have all the potential in the world to play at the next level. We will take a look at eight of my standouts from Day 2 of the PrepRedzone WI Showcase from the Class of 2023 and 2024. Jerry has a rapid release and is not afraid to let the deep ball fly. When you roll back his film from last season, you see a player that is a fantastic decision maker and one that isn’t afraid to use his legs either. Kaminski is one that if you didn’t look at the printout, you would have expected he was a senior, for not just how he carries himself but his mechanics were very fundamentally sound. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2BZKMY">Fr. Tape</a>     Keany Parks, RB, Kenosha Bradford (2023) [caption id="attachment_80555" align="alignleft" width="149"]<img class=" wp-image-80555" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/12/IMG_1885-155x300.jpg" alt="" width="149" height="289" /> Keany Parks, Kenosha Bradford[/caption] Parks came out of the gates warm with his outstanding burst on Tuesday night in Wisconsin Dells. Parks was one of the fastest kids I got to watch in the Dome. What I like about his film is even though his speed is off the charts, he’s not one to cut it to the outside; with all that speed, he takes it right up the gut when most speedster backs take it to the outside. I would describe Parks running ability like a track meet; who can catch him?! Not many people! The great part is, Parks is just getting started, and I can’t wait to hear more about this kid as he progresses over the next 2-3 years. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EftdU">Sophomore Tape</a>     Preston Nelson II, QB, Janesville Parker (2024) Preston was one of the young players that caught my eye on Tuesday night. He was one that lured me in with his size (6’0 170) and poise in the pocket. His ability to make throws deep and across the middle makes me think he could be a good prospect for the Vikings in the coming years. I believe Nelson II could get a very early shot at starting QB as Janesville Parker has won just two games since 2017, and he has the potential to change the script. [embed]https://twitter.com/PrestonNelsonI2/status/1299174558373642240[/embed] Jack Wojciak, QB, Irondale (MN) (2024) Wojciak was one of a few prospects I was familiar with before Tuesday night from 7on7 fall ball in Minnesota. Wojciak brought the heat, throwing the ball with reliable precision throughout the showcase. Wojciak shows off one of the deeper arms in the 2024 class and is bound to be on our watchlist with it comes out. Wojciak will develop more poise as he gets older, but the fact that this kid got his first varsity reps in a significant playoff game already could show that this kid has loads of potential. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EfdHA">Tape vs. SLP</a> Cortez LeGrant Jr. RB, Sun Prairie (2023) LeGrant Jr. ran one of the fastest 40 times of the day on the Astroturf at the Dells Dome on Tuesday night. As a Sun Prairie grad myself, LeGrant Jr. reminds me of a young Mike Mwelwa, a running back that has excellent downhill speed and is one that can get lost in between the tackles because of his size. LeGrant Jr. is one that got faster in pursuit when I watched on Tuesday and showed that on film as well. LeGrant Jr.has some shifty feet. I look forward to watching Cortez improve in a Cardinals uniform. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2CDB4Q">Fr. Tape</a> Avery Kurth, RB/DB, Slinger (2023) Kurth was another player that ran very sound on Tuesday night in the Dells. Kurth showed off some fantastic range, and his backpedal was second to none from the 2023 class from what I watched. Dominant in coverage, especially on the deep ball. Kurth is also active in the running game and is a bulldozer that runs people over with authority. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EgrHX">So. Tape</a> Jax Hertel, ATH, Big Foot (2023) Hertel’s versatility was what stood out to me on Tuesday night in Wisconsin Dells. Can move quite well. His film shows a kid that will do anything to fill in the gaps for his team. He has real solid feet with an excellent quirk to juke out his opponent in his tracks. Hertel has RB feet in a DB’s body. Hertel will be a consistent college-level defensive back as his tackling ability is textbook, and has a substantial length that he uses well in coverage. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2CDB4Q">Fr. Tape</a> Zander Rockow, RB, Eau Claire Regis (2023) I always talk about "bully backs," and Rockow most certainly defined that term on Tuesday night. His cutting ability as one of the bigger backs in the building stood out nicely to me. Rockow takes massive strides with his runs, making him so dangerous when he gets an extra step on the defense. Zander averaged over a first down per carry as just a sophomore. A stacked bull from a Division 7 powerhouse in the Ramblers. Rockow could be a loaded LB at the next level as his strength on his tackles is no joke. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EYmyV">So. Tape</a>
