SD

Deciding to take another look in the SD Class of 2026, I was able to find another batch of promising Freshman. The future of SD football looks to be exciting to watch with these Freshman getting some valuable playing time at a young age. A lot of skill positions mentioned in this article, but a lot of athleticism and physicality in their tapes as well. Take a quick look at the young-bucks of SD!

Shane Veenhof (WR)- Madison, Highlights

Veenhof received a good chunk of varsity snaps in his Freshman Season. Showing he can be a very reliable target in the short passing game, but also being a vertical threat as well. Looks like a hitch route is his favorite route, getting the DB on his heels, then snapping back for the ball. He takes a lot of pride in securing the catch then getting yards. After catching so many hitches, he does a great job selling that on a double move, then turning on the jets passed the defenders.

Jake Spronk (TE/LB)- Sioux Falls Christian, Highlights

Spronk also received some varsity snaps this season, and made the most of them. Showing a lot of physicality at a young age playing in the box on both sides of the football is going to make him a force in the next couple of years. On offense, he has shown he can be a very reliable target on the middle routes. A quick release off the snap and getting his head around to make the catch, focusing on securing it before a hit. Defensively, he sticks his nose right into traffic to make plays in the box.

Carson Marko (FB/LB)- Deuel, Highlights

Marko broke his way into the special teams unit in his Freshman Season, as well as some late game snaps. The kid runs as fast as he can and runs into people at full speed, offense or defense. Defensively, he gets to the ball and squares up perfectly to have perfect form on his tackle along with a lot of force behind it. Offensively, his physicality plays well grinding out as many yards as possible. He also has good vision and agility to find the gaps and open space.

Colt Beck (QB/DB)- Elkton/Lake Benton, Highlights

Beck stepped up in his varsity snaps this season. He may step into a very large role as a Sophomore as well. Taking snaps at QB, he filled the 'next man up' role perfectly. Showing he can be a good rushing threat out of the backfield, running the read option well. Also showing his speed after the read and breaking off a big gain, maybe even a long score. He also showed he can make plays on defense. Being undersized, he used leverage to his advantage attacking the ballcarrier's legs to get him down.

Sullivan Jost (RB)- Sturgis Brown, Highlights

Jost had a lot of JV film. After watching it, he showed he can carry a workload in the backfield. Getting a lot of inside zone looking runs, his strength and leg drive was on full display. Muscling through a lot of tacklers in the backfield to make sure he gets positive yards. His agility and vision showed as well to find gaps and explode through them. Lastly, he caps off his game with an impressive burst of speed to rip off the big gains.

[player_tooltip player_id='771526' first='Joey' last='Dallmann'] (FB)- Aberdeen Central, Highlights

Dallmann has a lot of quality snaps at the JV level, which should translate well to the varsity level next season. From the FB position, he shows a lot of patience. Giving the defender time to get into position for him to lay a big hit on him. Once he gets to the defender, he does an excellent job taking him out of the play. His motor runs at a really high level, finishing blocks through the whistle. Lastly, he does an excellent job climbing levels to block the biggest threat to the ballcarrier as the play progresses.

Brenner Konrad (QB)- Tea Area, Highlights

Konrad already has impressive size from the QB position as a Freshman. After watching his tape, he showed his skills from the position as well. A dual-threat QB with a lot of speed and muscle, but can also throw accurate passes with zip on them. Showing some raw talent in his throwing mechanics, he can get the ball to his receiver quick. As a rushing threat, he shows good patience for his blocks, then shows muscle and speed to break through the gap for a big gain.
