Music City Mayhem’s Top 12U Performers: Part II

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Music City Mayhem has come and gone &amp; we saw a boatload of talented prospects from eleven different states. The 12U division had some freaks and I have a feeling some will be names you will know in the near future. These were my top 12U performers in part II of my series.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator {"className":"is-style-wide"} --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide"/> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em><strong>ATH: Nash Franks, Tennessee Stars</strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A longer prospect with outstanding ball skills and a natural understanding of the game. Franks closes ground in a hurry with long strides and does a good job shooting his hand to knock away passes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em><strong>ATH: Gavin Walker, DSP Elite</strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Played bigger than his age and was an absolute menace on the field. Walker has quality instincts, smooth change of direction, and a competitive nature.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>WR: Braden Bickford, Fire Dragons Incinerate</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Solid build-up speed, to go with the body control of a wylie veteran. Bickford showed that he could drop his hips in the mud &amp; work back to the football and he consistently looked the ball into the tuck.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>ATH: Burke Mullins, Tennessee Stars</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mullins wasn't able to compete on Saturday but came up big on Sunday with two interceptions for the Stars. He reads the quarterback's intentions like a book, accelerates past fellow defenders while the ball is in the air, and is a fluid mover in space. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>QB: Darius Mitchell, TFP Flite Boyz </em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This young man throws well on the move and is willing to challenge deep half-safeties. He'll check the football down if nothing is there vertically and does a good job transitioning his body weight to get maximum force behind his deep throws. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em><strong>QB: Landry Roddy, Tennessee Stars</strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Roddy showed solid arm talent, a refined motion, and consistent footwork. He constantly placed the football on his target's numbers and dropped the deep ball right into the breadbasket over defenders. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>WR: Jordan Redmon, TFP Flite Boyz</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled receiver prospect with great spacial awareness and a short memory. He can elevate in traffic, is sudden out of his cuts, and can make you miss after the catch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em><strong>WR: Eli Crawford, TFP Flite Boyz </strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A prospect that doesn't look his age and can provide match-up issues with his size. He's got strong hands, he uses his frame to create separation between himself and the defender &amp; can stop on a dime at a moment's notice. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>WR: Charlie Esterly, Indy Select </em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Charlie has a ton of wiggle with the football in his hands and made multiple defenders look silly this weekend. He's elusive in space and has the turbos to accelerate to the second &amp; third levels without being brought down. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
