Senior quarterback Antwon McKay Antwon McKay 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Cardinal Ritter | 2024 State MO is a player that continued to impress this past Friday. He completed 8/10 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns. McKay was very impressive throwing the deep ball, showing the arm strength to stretch the field and hit his receivers in stride in the deep passing game. He also showed impressive accuracy, putting the ball where only his intended receiver could catch it. McKay also showed the ability to tuck the ball and make plays with his legs when needed, running the ball three times for 39 yards and a touchdown. Antwon is committed to Western Illinois where I can see him developing into a successful quarterback at the next level.

I last had Antwon in a sleepers article of mine in March. Since then, Antwon has visited Western Illinois and dominated in track & field. I may have been the one sleeping on Antwon due to splitting time behind center; Expect coaches within the region not to make the same mistake as Antwon’s recruitment heats up going forward.

Next level arm strength shows using velocity instead of touch to squeeze deep balls into tight windows versus zone coverage.  Antwon shows a good combination of accuracy and mobility delivering well-placed throws outside of the pocket. Athleticism shows as a runner, but next level size and strength shows consistently running through arm tackles; Still, with enough tools you can’t coach, watch for Antwon to have multiple schools to choose from where he can develop into a full-time passer.

First up on this list is a quarterback that I’ve been high on for a while now. Antwon McKay Antwon McKay 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Cardinal Ritter | 2024 State MO is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he helped lead Cardinal Ritter to a Class 3 State Championship. McKay finished this past season completing 99/170 passes for 1,654 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. He has a cannon for an arm, showing the ability to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride in the deep passing game. McKay also puts a nice amount of touch on his passes, putting the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. Antwon has also shown the ability to make plays on the ground when needed, scoring two rushing touchdowns this past season. McKay currently holds one offer from Northern Iowa but I expect more to come his way going into his senior year as he has the talent to be a very successful quarterback at the next level.

The rising senior out of Cardinal Ritter College Prep is a dual threat QB who can absolutely sling it from anywhere on the field. His footwork in the pocket is dynamic, and he is always on his toes, an attribute which enables him to fly out of the pocket at a moment’s notice and gain chunks of yards on the ground. McKay also has a knack for fitting the ball in tight spaces, and this is primarily thanks to his aforementioned arm strength that allows him to zip it in between multiple defenders. On top of all of this, his decision making in the read option is second to none, which is just another component of McKay’s broad skillset. This guy is as dangerous under center as he is in the shotgun, and this versatility is a big reason why I’ll be following his fall season closely.
