Review:
After the loss of a legendary coach, Coach Sorrell took that loss and turned it into a defeat of rival Rigby in order to get a #1 seed and a first round bye in the playoffs. Coach Sorrell would be the first to tell you that their success this year is because of the players in a legendary program. Highland is consistently one of the top teams in the state of Idaho year in and year out because of the caliber of players they have. Offensively the Rams used a high powered offense run by a junior quarterback who is one of the best athletes on the field regardless of position constantly beating teams with his legs the jump to his senior year through the air will make him even more dangerous. At running back they are going to miss a senior bulldozer who was able to make big plays in the running game and also was a stalwart in the passing game. Where Highland might be most excited is on the offensive line where many of their top players will be returning. A bruising group that has elite size and tenacity up front to really make a dent in defensive fronts. Wide receiver might be the best group on the field for the Rams where they return an electric sophomore and a big time player from injury last season. Defensively the front line of the defense has an anchor that really has the ability to be a dominant force going into next season along with active players who cause problems for opposing offensive lines. At linebacker is where the Rams will be looking to replace two senior leaders who are leaving a distinct legacy as they walk away from the program. In the backfield they are losing some serious playmakers who not only were able to make plays but were solid tacklers. The Rams are going to be a team to watch out for in the next year as many around the state are saying that a state title is not a far off title. This is a legendary program graduating a great senior class but is never truly rebuilding.
