Little film sits out there right now on Goins but I’ve seen enough clips as well as talked to opposing coaches about this East TN back to know the word is, he’s legit! A big back with good speed and natural athletic abilities, Goins brings tons of tools of the field that translate well to the next level along with the upside to become a #1 back in the college game. Besides being a downhill runner with good feet, Goins is also an excellent pass catcher that makes receiver-like moves in the open field. If the Dragons senior back can continue developing his pass blocking, Goins will have all three major traits that coaches like in a running back. His value is strong for the college game, so if this East TN back can continue to grow and mature, his future on the next level could be bright.

Bringing nice size, athleticism and speed to the football field, Goins is an interesting talent that sports a lot of physical abilities and traits that work well inside the college game and college coaches have begun to take notice. Coming in as the 4th ranked current RB, Goins has the unique combo of size and athletic abilities that you don’t find often and the great thing is that he is still far from a finished product. Once this East Tennessee runner gets going, he is hard to stop. Goins is a big guy that hits the hole hard then turns on his speed to break away from defenders. He is also quite elusive for his size, showing nice vision and the ability to quickly shift his feet into a new direction. Goins has picked up a couple of offers thus far but I could see him adding many more over the months as more coaches watch his film and see him perform in person.

Keep an eye out for this athletic prospect moving forward as Goins has the size, speed and overall potential to develop into a D1 starting running back. He broke out last year as a junior, leading his team in rushing while also becoming a nice pass catching security blanket coming out of the backfield. Goins is a tall runner who moves very well, showing on film the ability to bounce off tacklers and sport enough breakaway speed. Look for this East Tennessee running back to continue picking up steam over the coming months as more college coaches put eyes on him.

Pro’s: Goins had a breakout season as a junior and the lead back for the Dragons where he displayed his speed and natural athletic abilities. Goins is a smooth runner who glides and cuts very well. He shows excellent vision, especially in the open field while sporting a nice initial burst when finding the hole. Goins has breakaway speed once he hits the open and is an excellent receiver coming out of the backfield. The Dragons senior back also has nice size and a frame that can form nicely on the next level. Cons: There aren’t too many holes in this guy’s game but he can definitely enhance and improve his skill set much further. Goins does need to keep getting bigger, adding more girth to his frame, especially his upper body. Working on his lower base agility and explosion would be two area’s to keep enhancing as well.
