I’ve said it time and time again, this was one of the most improved receivers I scouted this season. He improved in all facets of his game. His route running was much better, his hands were improved, his speed was up and his ability to go up and high point the ball was stellar. Everything he is about screams hard worker. When I got to see him against Mason, he absolutely went off, showing a little bit of everything in a beatdown of the defending D3 finalist. Grand Valley is getting a stud!

This kid has played about as “out of his mind” as one can. This dude is racking up insane stats week after week and showing everyone why Grand Valley wanted him so bad. Abram runs smooth routes, has great hands to catch in traffic or make difficult catches on imperfect throws, and his run after the catch ability is about as good as I have seen from anyone. He has done an incredible job of improving everything about his game all offseason long for this moment, and I think he will likely have another huge game this week against Zeeland West and elevate his DeWitt team back to Ford Field.

I saw Abram in week 2 and came away the most impressed I have ever been with him. He was a nightmare for the Mason defense. Whether it was running deep go routes and using his athleticism to go up and get it, or running short routes and racking up YAC, Larner was able to do whatever he wanted that night. Grand Valley is getting a stud, and I have pretty high hopes for him and his DeWitt team heading into the post-season.

Abram is someone who I’ve talked about quite a bit over the past few months. All in all, Abram is a very well-rounded receiver who can fit a multitude of roles for Grand Valley. At DeWitt, Abram is at his best when given a wide-open field to work with. Abram is one of if not the best slot reverse player in the state. He can also burn you downfield or climb the ladder and secure a contested catch. At GV, I’d expect Abram to further work on his athletesism, explosiveness, and I think he has an opportunity to be a phenomenal DII football player in a few years time.

Last Fall, Abram had his breakout season. During his sophomore season, he began showing flashes of what he’d eventually perfect during his Junior year. Last season, Abram looked significantly smarter and more athletic than he did during his sophomore season. Playing in the Slot, Abram has a knack for turning a minimal gain into an explosive play. There are several instances where Abram secures the ball on a reverse, slant, whip, (etc) before surgically breaking through the defense into the open field. The very first play in his highlight tape shows Abram securing a reverse, patiently following his blocks, breaking several tackles, then going the distance for the 36-yard touchdown. There are a few other plays, like the one at 1:54, where Abram further showcases his IQ and contact balance from the backfield. Abram is also capable of being a phenomenal deep threat, which further exemplifies his versatility.

Considering his current play style and size, I’d expect Abram to be utilized in a very similar way at Grand Valley as he is now at DeWitt. A ton of the short game, with some reverses and deep routes sprinkled in. I truly hope Abram has a successful, healthy senior season that leads to further success at one of the best D2 programs in the country!

Abram is another major stock-riser, moving up 47 spots. Since the recent GLIAC offer surge, I’ve re-watched Abram’s film. He’s best described as a do-it-all offensive weapon. Lining up in the slot, Abram receives the ball via sweeps, quick game passing, deep seams, and more. When receiving a sweep or screen, Abram demonstrates exceptional patience, vision, and downhill running. Time and time again, Abram receives the ball in space, follows his blocks, and makes very subtle jukes that allow him to turn up field. In the passing game, he has a few good catches in traffic. I don’t think Abram is near the fastest athlete, but he’s extremely smart and produces at a very high level. I think the GLIAC evaluation is right on point.

Abram is one of the highest risers of this offseason, as he’s quickly become an elite GLIAC prospect. Last season at DeWitt, Abram was a gadget player who found a lot of success doing a lot of different things. In the run game, Abram was trusted running a lot of sweeps / other outside runs. There, he displayed his great vision, patience, and once he hit the open field, speed. I’d fully expect great testing times from Abram as well, since he earned offers from GVSU, SVSU, and Davenport. Moving forward, Abram will be a closely-watched prospect. If he can build on his 2023 season, I wouldn’t be shocked if Abram earned MAC attention.
