About Kanai
Expert Analysis
Arlen Harris | Prep Redzone Scout
An athlete coming from the West Coast that embodies good instincts and speed. Finding ways to be creative and get the ball into Kennedy’ hands is not a hard task. He does a great job shedding off tackles and finding seams to attack when running out of space on the exterior. Displays an understanding on how and when to attack the football. On offense, coming back to the ball out of breaks is a must. Kennedy catches the ball well and makes something happen when secured. On defense, hold on to your hat because he’s bringing it. Does not hesitate to break on ball and makes sure tackles coming downhill.

Kanai Kennedy (RB/S) is a 5’9 165 pound reclass athlete out of Washington.
-Accelerates through holes, puts foot in the ground to get vertical with urgency.
-Solid contact balance and speed at the second level. I like when ball carriers finish through the end zone, not just to it! Good reflexion of Kanai’s attitude.
-Comes up from secondary to lay wood. Can make open field tackles or fly up to finish the job.
-Has a good motor and plays fast on both sides of ball

Kennedy is a reclassified kid that should continue to rip up competition across the PNW and nationally. Saw him play last December for several days in a row, and he was a versatile piece that contributed at nearly every skill position. Speed is the thing that separates him from his peers on the field. He’s suiting up for Gridiron AIGA this season.

Speed personified. If he gets a step on a defender while out on a pattern, I feel for the guy playing in trail. If he gets a hand off or a toss, you better believe he’s headed for the edge and there aren’t many that will be stopping him from getting there. Once he tacks on some size or muscle, he’s the complete package.

listed above, Kennedy is another terrific prospect coming out of Washington in the Pacific Northwest. I had the pleasure of watching AIGA play twice at AYF Nationals and both times I wrote down and underlined the kid in jersey no. 9. He is speed personified and has to be one of the fastest 2027 kids in the country at this point. Played both Running Back and Wide Receiver on the offensive side of the ball, but his home looks to be at Defensive Back. He has long arms he uses to hand fight as Wide Receivers attempt to run by him, but that simply doesn’t happen. While I can’t find any official track numbers, I know what my eyes saw. His acceleration, explosion and ability to turn on the afterburners in the open field are in the 1%.
