With good size, his contact balance was very impressive. He was the definition of u0022slow to, fast throughu0022 once he read his blocks. He had great vision and feel for the flow of the play. Coleman has such a good burst. His start and stop ability were fantastic. Vandegrift's QB did not have a very inspiring day (the passing game in general was not spectacular). He only completed 7 out of his 19 passing attempts. Well 5 of those passes went to Coleman! There is not a route he can't run or a ball he can't catch! Not only could he launch the ball down the field, but he had really nice touch on the football. He has the ability to scramble and move out of the pocket, but he was very comfortable navigating in it. Only a junior, he still has room to grow in his mechanics. His biggest knock is being able to read defenses. He has not had to demonstrate that ability much. Bailey has all the tools to be a very efficient quarterback. He did not get the ball much. That was because Vandegrift saw what we all have seen in the past, Cook being any and all defenders 1-on-1. With limited connections, and a drop pass in the endzone (I'm sure he wants that play back), Cook only had 3 catches. BUT...those 3 catches went for 103 yards and a touchdown, with his longest reception being 55 yards! That's the type of player he is, good routes with great speed, you have to account for #1 at all times! Well Wisner reaped the benefits of it! No slouch in his own right, Wisner won with quickness and sure hands. Another nice sized playmaker, he was a problem in 1-on-1 situations. He also impressed me in his willingness to block. As the game wore on, and the defense got tired, Riden got stronger! Always driving his feet. Riden has the ability to set defenders up and break just enough to the defender's opposite should to run through those arm tackles. Tough runner, churning out yards and always fall forward. Only a sophomore, Riden has already arrived! Even though he was effective as a kick/punt returner, he played on the punt coverage team and stopped a punt from going into the endzone and allowing his teammates to down it at the 1-yard line! Okay, enough with that, Bluitt was elusive with the ball in his hands! He had very good speed and makes the easy catches look...easy, or effortless. He lived in the North Shore backfield and got there a variety of ways. Nice get off, he used his speed to get onto the offensive linemen in a hurry. Neither tackle could keep up with him. He displayed good feel for when to dip under blocks. His 'speed to power' was sudden and explosive. Simmons did not allow a lineman to get into his body. He also caused the first turnover of the game, batting the ball in the air for an interception. That was like the 2u003csupu003endu003c/supu003e or 3u003csupu003erdu003c/supu003e play of the game! It must have been foreshadowing for the night ahead of him.
